NHK, the public broadcasting company of Japan, made a program featuring the Airdolphin on their worldwide English channel back in January.
The program is now viewable in three parts on their portal site "Eco Channel".
There are a lot of anecdotes on the development history, and scenes of testing done on a circuit course aboard a vehicle, that are not to be missed!

The largest wind power event in the world, Windpower 2010 will be held in Dallas, Texas May 23 -26.
Windpower 2009 attracted more than 23,000 attendees and had over 1800 booths, and this year it is expected to be even bigger.

American Zephyr will be exhibiting again this year in the Small Wind Pavilion, booth 6013.

Type testing leading to certification of Airdolphin GTO has begun at the Wind Energy Institute of Canada (WEICan). Airdolphin GTO will undergo testing leading to certification in accordance to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) standard for certification under the Small Wind Certification Council (SWCC).
SWCC certification just came into effect this February, and the Airdolphin GTO will be one of the first turbines to be certified. The SWCC certification is expected to enable Airdolphin GTO to be eligible for rebate programs throughout the U.S.

WEICan is located at North Cape of Prince Edward Island - home of Anne of Green Gables --, Canada. It boasts 300 degree exposure to the Gulf of St. Lawrence offering IEC Class 1 wind resource, harsh marine environment, icing during winter, and large winter / summer temperature differences where we hope to prove the performance and ruggedness of the Airdolphin GTO.

Airdolphin GTO was installed on February 1, 2010, in temperature conditions of -37C with wind chill, on a 30m tower. The turbine was commissioned on February 17, 2010. Data collection is underway and reports will be issued for tests as they are completed and analyzed.

The name of the program is "J-Tech", which is aimed at focussing on Japan's

We would like to report to you the great operational data of our new product, Airdolphin-GTO at one of our field test sites in Hokkaido, Japan.

-On 21.12.2009, the total amount recorded 20.4 kWh in only one day.

-On 22.12.2009, the total amount recorded 20.8 kWh in only one day.

-The total amount of power recorded during 18.12.2009. and 27.12.2009, was 110 kWh in 10 days.

*20 kWh in one day is equivalent to the generation by a typical 6kW PV system.

From the above data, we could confirm that our Airdolphin-GTO is among the most powerful small wind turbines, again!!

We, all at Zephyr Corporation, wish you "A Happy New Year".

In Japan a Chinese letter "New" was chosen to be a letter best symbolized the Year 2009 at the year end. We feel new winds started to blow not only in Japan but also all over the world. World inherits things good from the past, but takes brave new steps towards the future. While many of traditional business areas are facing difficulty, world is trying to shift to new area such as ecology business.

"New" administration was born also in Japan, which announced a commitment towards the world that "Japan will pursue reduction of carbon emission by 25% by 2020. Such brave commitment demands extensive counter measures to be implemented throughout the country. There are high expectations on new industrial areas such as: diversification of energy sources, energy conservation technology, building of micro-grid systems or development of plug-in EVs, among others.

Then, "new" energy of course! Japan is no doubt leading world in new energy related technology such as wind power, solar power, solar heating, bio-mass, micro hydro, geo-thermal power generation as world recognizes. We have great hope that Zephyr's small wind turbine (SWT) technology is going to imprint firm steps in this worldwide environmental business area and will achieve further development in the years to come.
